Online backup protects Rodgers and Company data

Rodgers and Co Solicitors, founded in 1989 are a well established and well known Solicitors firm, based on the Lisburn road in Belfast. The firm is a full service law firm and works throughout Ireland and the UK.

Rodgers and Co joined Outsource as a customer in 2000 when they found themselves with a relative need for IT services. Outsource have continued to support and react to the growing needs of Rodgers and Co over the past 10 years. Rodgers and Co as a business have now become extremely IT dependant for their day to day business processes and for backing up and securing their vital business data.

In March of 2008 Rodgers and Co were having intermittent backup problems with their magnetic tape backup device. As a result of failed confidence in this medium of backup and on consultation with Outsource, the firm moved to using an online backup solution. This solution allowed Rodgers and Co to send their critical data off site on a nightly basis. The backup solution is a fully automated procedure and so removes the reliance on human intervention.

In April of 2008, following a systems failure, Rodgers and Co suffered massive server failure and had to endure the task of rebuilding their server from scratch. All data on the original server was lost. As a result of having online backup in place the law firm were able to relax in the knowledge that all of their business critical data could comprehensively and easily be restored to its original form.

Rodgers and Co suffered the inconvenience of being without their server for a working day but the implications of losing their data would have been far reaching and would have had detrimental consequences to their business. Rodgers and Co continue to remain forward thinking towards their IT and have further invested in their data recovery/business continuity plan by adding a server imaging product to their network which now dramatically reduces their restore time in the event of a similar incident.
